mother blessing

We had a mother blessing here at Tuatapere Maternity for one of our lovely nurses who is soon to have her first baby.
This is the first mother blessing I have been too and I was really touched.
Here in New Zealand we tend to have 'baby showers' where we have lots of fun and the Mum gets pampered and showered with gifts - usually for the baby!
The mother blessing was beautiful in that it embrased natural things found in our sourrounds such as herbs and gemstones and we selected a herb and then Michelle would read out the meaning of it.... it was great!
If you are ever looking for something a little different then I think you should research this for a special person in your life who is about to have a baby!
